About This Event
Seeing is no longer a reliable test of what is real. This Perth talk explores deepfakes: AI-generated video that can make people appear to say or do things they never did, and the practical skills needed to assess what you encounter online.
What the talk will cover
- How deepfake technology works
- Why distinguishing genuine content from manipulated media is becoming harder
- Examples designed to challenge assumptions about online video
- Practical approaches to protecting yourself and your organisation
Speaker
Ronnie Das is an Associate Professor in AI, Data Science and Digital Transformation at The University of Western Australia Business School. His research examines how AI and big data can support organisational efficiency, decision-making and community outcomes, with work spanning areas including consumer research, health, transport and urban systems.
