From AI User to AI Builder: Build Your Own AI Assistant

Build an AI assistant using your own documents in this hands-on Sydney masterclass. You’ll configure, connect and deploy an application on cloud infrastructure, with an introduction to the systems behind document retrieval and AI-powered answers.

What you’ll work on

• Create a document assistant that reads PDFs, retrieves relevant passages and produces answers with cited sources
• Explore how retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works
• Connect AI models with cloud architecture and AWS services
• Test, configure and manage your application
• Learn the basics of AWS Cost Explorer for monitoring cloud spending

Who it’s for

No coding experience is required. The session welcomes beginners, non-technical founders, business owners, students, professionals and curious builders who want a practical introduction to building AI software.

• A laptop and charger
• An optional PDF or document to use in the session; sample documents will be available

Food, drinks and networking are included. AWS credits will also be provided for continued experimentation after the event.
